Our products

Our end-to-end solution is built on four core product pillars: edge gateways, connected things, a central management system, and custom portals.

We have a wide variety of options and models available in each of the categories to ensure the best outcome for each situation.

1.

Edge Gateways

What is it?

An edge gateway is a secure device typically installed at the edge of your network. This device physically connects to an extremely wide variety of things at your site, collects data from things, stores and processes this data locally, and transmits the processed data to the central management system.

We recommend the Remote series of edge gateways from Westell.

Why do you need it?
  • Supports all major physical interfaces and protocols—connect virtually anything
  • Collect data from many things and aggregate into a single source
  • Store data for up to seven days—data is not lost due to network disruptions
  • Transmits processed data securely via wired or wireless backhaul
  • Seamless management of all connected things
  • Enables remote software and firmware upgrades
  • Secures access to all connected things
How do we use it?

For small applications with a limited number of connected things such as street cabinets, smart poles or small mobile cellular towers, we typically use:

> RMC-700 (View Specifications)

For medium applications with a variety of connected things such as network hub sites and larger mobile cellular towers we typically use:

> RMM-800 (View Specifications)

> RMM-1400 (View Specifications)

For larger applications with a large number of connected things such as major network exchanges and data centres we typically use:

> RMX-3200 (View Specifications)

> RMX-4000 (View Specifications)

All our edge gateways can be expanded to include additional digital and analogue inputs, and control relay outputs using the RMB series of expansion modules:

> RMB-2 (View Specifications)

> RMB-3 (View Specifications)

Technical specifications

The Remote series of edge gateways support a variety of interfaces, such as:

  • Digital alarm inputs
  • Analogue inputs
  • Control relay outputs
  • Copper and optical Ethernet (10/100/1000Mbps)
  • Asynchronous serial
  • Short-range wireless (Bluetooth, WiFi and proprietary)
  • 3G and 4G LTE including Cat-M1 and NB-IoT

A wide variety of protocols and standards are supported, such as:

  • IPv4 and IPv6, including NAT64
  • DHCP (server, client, relay), DNS, and NTPv4
  • IPSec and OpenVPN
  • SSH, HTTP(S) and SFTP
  • RS232 (ASCII), and RS485/TBOS (Modbus TCP or Modbus RTU)
  • BACNet
  • SNMPv1/v2c/v3, TL1, and WebAPI
  • IEEE 802.1d
  • TACACS+ AAA/RADIUS

Connected things

What is it?

Your distributed network of critical assets are usually located at a remote site. These sites already contain a number of devices and systems, and can be augmented with a wide variety of sensors. We connect to all these devices, systems and sensors—things.

These things range from simple sensors such as temperature and door open/close to more complex devices such as power controllers, power meters and network cameras, to sophisticated systems such as generator controllers, building management systems and network equipment.

We recommend sensors from Monnit.

Why do you need it?

Things generate data. The more things we connect, the more data we have. The more data we have, the better the outcome. Data is the key to the actionable insights which can help you to generate revenue, reduce your risk, improve efficiencies and realise cost savings.

How do we use it?

Network Equipment Management

  • Out-of-band management of network equipment
  • Routers, major exchange and data centre equipment, mobile cellular equipment

Power Management

  • AC current monitoring
  • Rectifier monitoring
  • Generator DC voltage monitoring

Generator Monitoring and Control

  • Generator controller monitoring and remote control
  • Fuel level sensing, either float or pressure sensing sensors
  • Automatic Transfer Switch control

Environmental Management

  • Temperature and humidity sensors
  • Gas sensors
  • HVAC monitoring

Security

  • Indoor and outdoor network camera with pan/tilt/zoom
  • Access control
  • Door open/close

Battery Management

  • Per cell battery monitoring
  • Accurate battery capacity monitoring without the need for discharge
  • Battery temperature monitoring
Technical specifications

Connected things communicate with the edge gateways using a variety of physical interfaces and protocols, such as:

  • Contact close
  • Ethernet (10/100/1000Mbps)
  • Asynchronous RS232 or RS485 (Modbus TCP or Modbus RTU)
  • SNMP
  • Short-range wireless (Bluetooth, WiFi and proprietary)
3.

Central Management System

What is it?

A central management system enables real-time centralised monitoring, management, and remote control of networks of critical assets. It’s web-based, secure and massively scalable from small to very large operations.

We recommend the Optima Management System ® from Westell.

Why do you need it?
  • Capture and record all events and alarms at sites
  • View health, status and software version of all things at sites
  • Remotely initiate actions on site, such as starting and stopping a generator
  • Manage software and firmware downloads for all things
  • Collect data and examine key performance indicators
  • Create and customise reports and dashboards
  • Enables remote access to things at site
  • Allows integration with northbound systems
How do we use it?

Optima provides visibility to your data with standard and customised dashboards and reports. Optima is a secure, web-based platform that can be hosted on your private infrastructure, or the public cloud. An iOS or Android mobile application is also available to enable easy access to your network of critical assets.

Custom portals

What is it?

Custom portals can present your actionable insights which is driven by underlying advanced technology, such as predictive modelling, automated machine learning and complex data visualisation. Custom portals are tailored and streamlined user experiences.

We recommend Optima VantEdge® custom portals by Westell. Optima VantEdge® leverages the core capabilities of the Optima Management System®.

Why do you need it?

One size does not fit all. A custom portal enables a unique user experience focused on what matters to you.

How do we use it?

Custom portals bring the actionable insights to life. Custom portals are typically hosted in the public cloud, which allows simultaneous access to the underlying technology required for the actionable insights.
